Stamina

10km in 45:55. Tough one today mentally very taxing.
Weather very warm about 24 degrees but I got a shower (flashflood) at about 25 mins in, which was very welcome.

time checks good, but faded rather badly at around 7km. 2:52, 7:10, 11:51, 16:48, 20:58, 25:27, 30:30, 39:21 (turn at dr mannix - totally underestimated the length of that road & therefore picked up pace, realised I'd another good bit to go, then felt dejected & threw in the towel - sprinted towards the end but even had to slow that one down as I was truly bolloxed tonight)  (all from memory as usual!)

pace was good early on & focusing on breathing & running form, also got the usual stitches in the 1st 10 mins to remind me I was pushing it relative to what I've subjected the system to in recent times - so that's good! I knew when I adjusted the breathing voluntarily that I wasn't really tired etc, just pure lack of training (obviously!!!), so plenty more there, but like I say - that's for September - now I must focus on exams.

Really wanted to stop running going through the half hour mark. This almost never happens to me (or at least its highly unusual). Mind playing tricks one me, trying to conserve energy for the exams I'm sitting at the moment I guess... just comeplete lack of endurance on my part coupled with late nights & late getting up. Diet improving though, once I start doing longer runs I tend to cut out the crap I buy at the shop etc, like I was last summer, so that's good (& natural/ to be expected...)

Anyway good to get out for a longer run than usual this weather. I've never been looking forward to winter training this much & can't wait to rip into it properly come September - looking forward to doing some 8 mile tempo runs & some 12- 14 mile endurance runs too. Then mix this up with daily cycling, (every morning) along with some sprints on the track too to mix things up (200 metre & 1 mile repeats etc).

Had to get a "longer session" in & I'm glad I did. hadn't been cycling much either the past 4-5 days so was in bad need of it. I cycled today & yesterday to college & if it hadn't been for the cycles I'd have struggled to do that run in even 48 mins I reckon, so its the cycling that saves me anyway.
