Rabbit, Run

Tuesday 9th August 20225k in Harrow park 18:42

Quite happy with this run. I have been doing these 5k runs now on a roughly weekly basis for the last month or so.

I did 18:49, 18:47, 18:45 in recent weeks & last night I did an 18:42.

Last nights run was fantastic in that it was the first time that I didn't perceive the pace as being really hot.

I was in my second lap & I felt I was jogging around the park. This is excellent as it implies I can probably break 17 mins for this eventually.

I will work on bringing this down to 18 mins first & see what needs to be done in order to make this happen.

Quite clearly it's a matter of doing some 5 mile runs & some speed sessions & that should shift the time down.

So the plan is to do this & then see where that lands me time wise.

For Yasgur's Farm

It's about time I updated on here some running progress

Friday 10th June 2022, 5k - 19:20

This is the 3 loops route of Harrow recreational Park. This is a record for me I believe...

I ran this last Sunday in 19:45 so I am improving :-)

I have 4-5 other runs to document here but I am afraid I haven't time to sieve through my notes.

Will not be running headford. I have decided instead to focus my energies on writing.

Running is great & these 5k's are perfect. I look forward to a nice 8-10k too. Will do one on my next day off.

This Route is Calm, Bro...

This is an update of sorts,

Craughwell 10 miler on Sun 20th March - terrible. Great to get the distance in but that's all it was 1:19 (with about 5 mins walking total -  lost interest at mile 5 & walked/jogged the rest of it - not bad then for the time).

Anyway, the good news is I have solved my running route issue. Since I moved here in August of last year I have struggled to find a decent route. Below is the route I did last night (Monday 4th April). in 29:55 & this was easy 6.6kms. Quite hilly but absolutely no traffic issues after 8pm.

Headford is on my mind now for an early July attack. Really looking forward to putting a few things right here.

I am fit but am I healthy? I reckon I could drop 10 kgs easily.

2 other runs I can think of within the last week were the 25 mins on Fri night & last nights 4 miler.

Runs scheduled for Thursday & Sunday evening now.

Lets soldier on.

Deceiver

1st March 2022 - 7.3k Kenton Library & back,

31:23 - same time as 6th Feb - in my view the time is absolutely terrible - however I know I am going very very slow.

I put the hammer down in the last 10 mins & really went to gain some time back but it never happened - oh well.

This was my 1st run in 8 days so patience is a virtue.

Delighted overall to be honest as I know there is a good deal more there.

Was happy too as I had plenty in reserves & had a good nights sleep previous so I went into the run fairly fresh (despite doing an 8 hr work day on my feet).

The main challenge was my chest - blew a few cobwebs out that's for sure - with plenty more to be blown out too!!!

Happy enough to be honest - I am paying next to no attention on the running front trying to prioritise my time for writing after work most days but I'm getting better - especially now with Craughwell around the corner - first big road race in 2 years - it's going to be great :-)

Need to implement some speedwork now on Thursday's run - then do a sharp 45 min run on Sat or Sun.

We'll get there.

3 Strikes

Tues 22nd Feb 2022 - 2 laps round Harrow recreational park

Preparation for Craughwell is slow - but present. More progress due this week.

Exhibition

Sunday 6th Feb 2022 - Kenton Library & back - 7.3k - 31:27 (3.65k Approx to Kenton Library)

A nice hit out today - first run since 25th Jan - yikes...

Found the run tougher than before - completed the run on Jan 25th in 30:31 so 1 full minute down on before. Still sub 7 min mile running but way too much of a struggle than it needed to be. I was impressed at my pace the last time as I had been doing virtually no running so I figured I'd do round the same time again here - not a chance it seems. I got to the turn about 15:04 (& was 14:57 last time). Alas.

I put it down to sheer inactivity over the weekend as the run I did previously I was at work all day.

This is my first post in quite some time. I have been running once a week or so - sometimes twice & never tend to go more than 10 days without running.

After almost 2 years of no road races (my last race being the 10 miler in Duhallow Co Cork in March 2020 - of course I had track races in 2020 (which I raced) & 2021 (which I didn't race) but I didn't count these really...

So race day is March 20th for the 10 miler in Craughwell. I am still UK based so will be flying home to see family & also targeting this race.

Goal now is to get the mileage up a little. will run twice more this week coming then ease off  next week & go from there.

Next run is gonna be a 45 min run however I do it. At the moment it's just getting time on the feet. Then push out for an hours run. Then ramp it back down for some speedwork, then build up the mileage again & do a couple of hard 8 milers & I should be good to go...

My big race plan this year will be the headford 8k. I'll then likely target Hollymount 10k in November as I have unfinished business there.

Pressure & time.

Been running now more or less 1-2 times (what you could call regularly) a week since 2010 so that's 12 years now I've been at this - lets hope there's room for 52 more years!
