Friend or Foe

5k this evening - 20:35

@ 16:30 - slight headwind, no rain, just before dark.

All up 6.5k

This felt very laboured this evening - normally I do this sort of pace easily. It was a struggle tonight.

Onwards & upwards to next run on Wednesday

Sleep pattern the key culprit - need to get back to early mornings again - fell off the wagon over the weekend - dear oh dear...

To Daimonion

Nice 8.1k - 34:08

9.2 k all up.

Ran at 16:25, 11:00 flat for 1st Lap, 22:38 Second lap.

Not a lot to say other than the fact that I restarted my watch 2:43 in so I had a bit of fun with the arithmetic working out my live splits.

Other than that, an uneventful run(which is what you want). Very pleased.

work rate 80% - felt good.

Ankle a good bit better too.

Weather good - clear with a slight headwind - great lifestyle - would be doing very few other things if not running. It is one of the few select activities in which I really, really enjoy.

& that's saying something.

On the Road Again [Never left]

Not that I ever left the tarmac, of course...

A lot has happened since I last wrote here, but my running training has been going fairly well since I've recorded an entry here last.

I'm back in Ireland now studying a for a math's Diploma with a view of teaching next fall in the UK.

So, since I packed in my old job in July, I started an MS Excel training log of all my runs since July 15th, which actually looking back on it makes me quite happy. I am in good nick, & why wouldn't I be I suppose..

Anyway, there's not alot of room in there for waffle, so here is my space for that!

I've started getting up early again so I'm up now for about 05:00 & in bed for 22:00.

Yesterday I did a 5k in 20:11, easy running really, no huge strain on the workout & was certainly relaxed during the run & the time just followed, no particular reason - the 5 miler on Monday certainly helped the legs.

This loop is one I do round Gort town & has become my most enjoyable route, a 2.7k loop round the town & my house.

So, 06:00 flat through TC1, & 07:47 through TC 2, then 10:50 through lap 1 - wow I thought to myself as I didn't necessarily feel great as such for the fast time... anyway I tend to hover between 10:45 & 11:20 for the first lap entirely depending on how I'm feeling - typically it's 11:00 flat though for an even paced effort...

Was happy with TC1 for lap 2 where I was about 17:12 & this I felt I could do well under 17 mins so the sub 20 for this route is coming :-)

Feeling really good about running now, Covid has worked 100% in my favour with being able to work (formally) & now study full time at home so I can't complain. Miss the running with the club guys though - all training has been cancelled until further notice so we're forced to train on our own, some situation the world is in...

Looking for a session on the grass tomorrow, let's see how we go...
