College is mental so couldn't find the time to get on here. Went for a 5 lap run round the 2 pitches in renmore during my lunchbreak on the 21th april (35: something & that was tough - in the afternoon heat - 1st sign of summer for me...), then had the 5km series race 1 in ballybrit (26th april) - 20:20 & they've changed the route again this year - god they can never get it right can they?... it's a nice idea but it always ends up being a bit of a disaster...
slow course, was in the top 15 or so for a bout a mile then I inevitably dropped back 30-40 places as the race continued - finished 70th - well, well down the field but I was happy. I have the cycling to thank for keeping me in at least some sort of form... I coaxed Mike from college to come along & he ran 21:15 fair play to him.
I then ran last night (1st may) on the pitch in Dangan about 9:30pm so it was getting dark but had a nice session, 3 mins per lap is the aim eventually so I reckoned I managed 8-9 laps (didn't keep count) in 31:39 - the idea was to go for a half hour run on the grass - happy days...
I've been cycling to college everday (as always now) along with cycling to work on sat (30th april) so that's 50km + 10 mile cycle (excluding running) - so that's not too bad.
today is a rest day - cleaning house, report writing for college & usual Sunday duties.
5km series craughwell leg tomorrow, looking forward to it, I'll see how I feel on the bike in the morning & I'l know from that whether I'm in sub 20 shape - I'm virtually certain that I am - it's all in the head... with the week of cycling behind me, the race, the cycle to work on sat & the run last night I think I'm in good enough shape to hold it all the way to get under 20 rather comfortably - it's up to me now...
Renmore run planned for thurs ("recovery") & then same again on sunday - dangan run (hard). I also have sat off work so I might mix it up & go for a good cycle... I will not be racing for 2 weeks until the claregalway leg so all of my training will be focused for that...
All of my runs bar the races of course have been on the grass or on the bike so that gives my legs the best chance. Things are looking good (at least on the running front!).
