Dancing on your Grave

Nice hit out tonight - 6.8km in 31:06 (7:22 min miles)

Went out round 6pm. did well. Had planned a 10km but got a sore left baby toe through the turn going under the bridge at 15 something mins gone, stopped at bus stop to adjust which seemed to fix the issue but I then decided to cut the run short anyway (I spooked myself out of it) & decided to make lemonade with lemons so turned it into a sprint half hr time trial.

I was feeling quite good today so went out hard enough & tried to keep it up.

Happy with the run, Weather was nice, clear blue sky all day & no rain or wind.

Few nice races planned now for the next few months:

5km Peterswell - 9th Nov - Won't make this
Hollymount 10km 17th Nov - To Go
Claregalway 5km - 9th Dec - To Go
Duhallow 5km - 15th Dec (Newmarket Co Cork) - To Go
FOA 10Km - 26th Dec- To Go
Resolution 5km - 1st Jan - To Go
Tuam 8km - 19th Jan - To Go
Listoonvarna 5km - 25th Jan - Decide if I should do this instead of Tuam
Raheney 5 miler - 26th Jan - Decide if I should do this instead of Tuam
Coldwood 4 miler - 26th Jan -  Decide if I should do this instead of Tuam
Duhallow 10 miler - 8th Feb (Might try this if I like the 5km...)

Then it's looking ahead to:
Craughwell 10 miler - 22nd March (Take a weeks hols 15th-20th)
Sonny Murphy/Kilnaboy 10 miler -  12th April

& then maybe a Marathon in June in Tullaroan/Cork in June? who knows...

Trench boxes in October - Surveying Struggle

4 Runs to report since the last post on here as we progress through the autumnal bliss that is the month of October.

  • Mon 07.10.2019 - 45:17 - 10km - Felt good - aim for sub 44 (as always)
  • Mon 14.10.2019 - 49:18 - 10km - headcold & lashing rain & V cold & Vehicles/traffic everywhere.
  • Sun  20.10.2019 - 35:59 - 10km (but stopped the watch at 8km as I was struggling Re motivation, breathing & Weak mentally. Walked for 100m then jogged the remaining 2km home with a sprint at the end.)
  • Wed 24.10.2019 - 32 Flat (actually 31:45 for I had to move for cars etc.) - 7.1km loop
This was tonight's run, which went quite well. Still a little slow out of the blocks (but I think                31 Something is actually my best time for this route so considering this it was a  good    performance) but ran well. Had a lot of mental motivation (work just keeps getting worse & worse) to run well tonight & this showed in the time. Had a stitch again in the same area that stopped me dead last time but it wasn't as severe that it stopped me this time. Legs were spent in the last 10 minutes but I held on well to finish reasonably strongly - lost a bit of focus inside the last 5 minutes mentally but overall happy with the run. I need to do this session more (more speed work - I lack this).
  • A good deal of cycling (especially at weekends to & from Work) throughout this time period.
Been nursing a persistent head cold since late last week, have been running & cycling with it & is fine.

Looking good now for a run this coming Friday & Sun evenings
